Our Team

Meet Our CEO, Demeka

Demeka Underwood has over 10 years of nursing experience and has been a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner since 2021. Demeka works closely with patients to provide medication management and psychotherapy when indicated for mental health issues. She received her Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Southern Mississippi in 2020, Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Franciscan University of Our Lady in 2019 and Associates of Science in Nursing from Our Lady Of the Lake College in 2012.  Demeka was a nurse for over a decade in diverse settings including Medical Surgical, Mother/Baby, Pediatric Nurse Manager, School Nurse Manager, Community Psychiatric Nurse and volunteered with Council on Aging where she administered COVID-19 Vaccines.  Her philosophy of nursing is to provide care for patients in the community as if they are her own family members.  She serves with empathy and a smile.  She believes this philosophy results in the best patient outcomes. During her free time, Demeka loves to read, travel with family, and spend time with her three dogs. She is a wife, mother, and grandmother.

Demeka is an esteemed member of the community and has an extreme hunger to combat the mental health stigma in our community. Demeka knows firsthand the barriers of those suffering with a mental illness, and she is uniquely qualified to provide the best plan of treatment. Resilience and purpose has guided her this far, and she believes it will carry on to her patients.  Demeka believes anything is possible with God.

Meet Our Psych NP, Anissa

Anissa Womack is a compassionate and dedicated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who recently joined the team at Mending Minds Behavioral Health. With over 10 years of healthcare experience, Anissa brings a wealth of expertise to her practice. She received her Master of Science in Nursing from Herzing University in 2022 and has worked in mental health since 2019.

Anissa takes a holistic approach to her practice, prioritizing the mental and physical well-being of her patients. Specializing in Depression, Anxiety, and Binge Eating Disorder, she understands the complex interplay between these conditions and overall health.

Committed to personalized care, Anissa collaborates closely with her patients to develop comprehensive treatment plans that promote healing and empowerment. She is currently accepting new patients at Mending Minds Behavioral Health and looks forward to supporting individuals on their journey toward improved mental well-being. With her expertise and genuine compassion, Anissa strives to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those she serves.
